We are pleased to provide counseling and
therapy services for individuals, couples, and
families. Counseling addresses the symptoms,
problems, and issues that people experience
from time to time, while therapy addresses the
underlying causes and provides a safe place to
express private thoughts and feelings. The
process also helps clients to develop a
proactive plan for creating change so that
quality of life can grow and be maintained. At
BCC, we are client-centered and therefore
committed to providing every client with a
professional and compassionate process that is
respectful, truthful, and helpful.
BCC welcomes self-pay clients, as well as
clients who will be using health insurance to
pay for their sessions. We encourage
prospective insurance clients to contact their
insurance representative to determine whether
counseling services are covered by their
policy and to confirm the amount of their
co-pay and deductible. We accept all types of
health insurance for payment of counseling
services.
Dr. Jack Nealon has been providing counseling
& therapy services for more than 25 years.
He earned his B.A. in Psychology from the
University of Maryland, followed by an M.A. in
Counseling Psychology from Bowie State
University, and a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology
from The Union Institute. He is licensed by
the State of Maryland as an LCPC, Licensed
Clinical Professional Counselor.
Dr. Nealon is especially interested in helping
people gain the knowledge and tools that are
needed in two important areas of life: how to
take good care of our individual needs
(physical, mental, emotional, spiritual); and
how to have really healthy relationships that
can successfully thrive throughout the years.
For example, he helps couples to protect the
core temperature of their relationship by
exploring the nutrients (listening, touch,
kind words, loyalty) that are needed on a
daily basis, as well as the toxins (anger,
criticism, control, unfaithfulness) that can
do so much damage if we're not careful. He
emphasizes that we all need to focus on
mindful communication instead of falling into
the bad habit of reacting on autopilot, and
that "HOW we talk to each other is always more
important than WHAT we're talking about".
